Pubco News; Punch aims for largest pub quiz in the country
To help its Partners drive sales at quiet trading times, Punch has launched a national pub quiz competition that it aims to make the largest of its kind in the country.
With a total grand final prize fund of £6,400, Punch is encouraging as many of its Partners as possible to get involved and drive trade at their pubs with free weekly quiz nights.
Over 400 Partners have already registered and begun an eight week rolling programme. As well as the free 50-question quizzes, Partners are also provided with a full briefing pack, free posters and money off drinks tokens to help them promote the events and encourage customer loyalty.
Stephen Martin, marketing manager at Punch says: “A quiz is a really simple way for pubs to boost trade at traditionally quieter times. We’re able to use our scale to put together a quiz package for Partners that’s completely free and can help them bring in new trade.”
Each week, quiz teams receive points depending on how successful they have been. After the eight week cycle, the winning team, with the best six scores, will go through to represent their pub at the regional finals taking place in July and August.
The regionals will be hosted by Redtooth, utilising a full PA system and TVs in larger Punch outlets and the top two teams from each regional final then go through to the national event, hosted by Redtooth and a celebrity quiz master on 11th September.
The overall national winner will receive £2,000 plus trophies and a special ‘money can’t buy prize’ in the form of a quiz fully set up at their pub and a celebrity quiz team to play on a night of their choice. And runners up also receive a range of cash prizes.
